Research and Development in the Field of Planning Methodology

Research results as quality proof

Bosch & Partner contributes to the application-oriented development of methods and procedures for environmental planning and the assessment of environmental effects in the context of numerous research and development projects.

With these activities we want to show that scientific demands and daily practice in a market-oriented business company do not have to conflict with each other. Research and development projects put us in a position to bring together the requirements of environmental legislation and of scientific research without attachment to certain interests. These insights have been processed for daily planning practice.

Our services and competences

You as our contracting body and client can benefit from the credits we have been given for our research project, e.g. by the Federal Environmental Office or from the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation. The research employers have published the results of our work, and authorities and professional associations have recommended their consideration and application.

The guidelines and manuals also consider the characteristics in the federal states and the specific types of projects and procedures (land use planning, traffic routes, measures of hydraulic engineering). We aim for a quality-conscious and at the same time practice-oriented implementation of existing and future professional and legal requirements for procedures and planning projects to assess environmental effects. These are:

  • EIA of projects and necessary appendant documents,
  • strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and SEA Environmental Report,
  • impact regulation according to Nature Conservation Legislation and landscape conservation support plan,
  • assessment pursuant to the Habitats Directive and respective procedure documents

Within our research projects we develop innovative concepts and proposals for an efficient coping with the tasks, but also for conflict solution during the procedure:

  • Cooperative and communicative approaches to the problems of compensation areas,
  • Research results from environmental monitoring and their significance for the SEA Environmental Reports.

Our work contributes to improve usability of the results and findings of ecosystem research for practical application in planning, administration and public relations work.
